The prosecutors of DIICOT – Constanța Territorial Service ordered, on 16 June 2026, the detention of three defendants under investigation for international trafficking in high-risk drugs, according to a statement cited by ziarulamprenta.ro. This concerns one woman and two men aged 18, 20 and 25 years old respectively.

According to the criminal investigation documents, in the period April – June 2026, the female defendant obtained, possessed and sold quantities of 3CMC — a substance generically known as "crystal" — both individually and together with a fourth suspect, aged 19, who is currently evading criminal prosecution.

During June 2026, the same defendant obtained approximately three kilograms of 3CMC crystalline substance from Poland. The high-risk drug was introduced into Romania through an international transport company.

On 15 June 2026, the woman was caught red-handed whilst collecting, together with the defendant aged 20, the package containing the prohibited substance intended for sale.

The investigation also revealed the involvement of the third defendant, aged 25, who, in the period March – April 2026, possessed and sold high-risk drugs and brokered the sale of quantities of 3CMC for the suspect who is at large.

Following house searches carried out at the defendants' residences, several ecstasy tablets were seized, a quantity of cannabis, a grinder, objects bearing traces of the substance, a laptop, sums of money in lei and other evidence materials.

The judge for rights and freedoms from the Constanța Court ordered, on the same day, the preventive arrest of the three defendants for a period of 30 days. The court is to rule also on the proposal for arrest in absentia of the suspect evading criminal prosecution.

The judicial activities were carried out together with police officers from the Constanța Organised Crime Fighting Brigade, with the support of gendarmes from the Constanța Mobile Gendarme Group.

DIICOT clarifies that the persons under investigation benefit, throughout the entire criminal proceedings, from the rights and procedural guarantees provided for by the Criminal Procedure Code, as well as from the presumption of innocence.
