Drugs in central Ljubljana: arrests, cocaine seizure and 5,000 euros in cash
Police arrested several suspects for drug dealing in Ljubljana over the past weekend. They seized cocaine, heroin, cannabis and approximately 5,000 euros in cash.
Ljubljana police arrest multiple drug dealers over the weekend
Over the past weekend, Ljubljana police dealt with several cases of illegal drug trafficking, reports Delo.
In the first case, police stopped a 20-year-old driver of a private vehicle in central Ljubljana, in which a 19-year-old passenger was seated. During the procedure, they found more than 70 wrappings containing white powder substance suspected to be cocaine, two wrappings with substance suspected to be heroin, one wrapping with suspected illegal cannabis, and several tablets which police suspect contain steroids. They also seized approximately 5,000 euros in cash and mobile phones from both individuals, announced the Ljubljana Police Directorate.
Based on an obtained warrant, police conducted a house search at the suspects' residential addresses, during which they seized several hundred euros in additional cash. Both individuals will face criminal charges filed with the competent prosecutor's office on suspicion of the criminal offence of unauthorised production and trafficking in prohibited drugs.
In the second case, police officers, whilst performing duties in a security-sensitive area on Metelkova, detected the sale of prohibited drugs. A 30-year-old Algerian national handed over an aluminium wrapping containing approximately one gramme of white powder substance suspected to be cocaine to a citizen in exchange for payment. In the course of the further procedure, the suspect handed over another wrapping with the same substance.
Police deprived the individual of his liberty and detained him. Based on the information gathered, he was brought before an investigating judge with a criminal charge on suspicion of the criminal offence of unauthorised production and trafficking in prohibited drugs, and the judge ordered his remand in custody, explained the Ljubljana Police Directorate.
