After nearly 24 hours of searching, a 41-year-old Croatian national was found dead in the settlement of Uršna sela in Slovenia.

Nearly one day of operations to search for an armed man in the Črnomlja area of Slovenia came to an end on Saturday evening — a 41-year-old Croatian national was found without vital signs in one of the buildings in the settlement of Uršna sela.
Everything began on Friday around 20:00, when police received a report of an armed robbery at a petrol station. The robber fled in a delivery vehicle, and there were no injuries during the act itself. A small amount of money and cigarettes were stolen.
Police quickly launched an extensive search. Certain traffic sections were closed, and a police helicopter circled the area throughout the day. The suspect was described as a person with a dark beard and shaved head, wearing shorts and a dark shirt.
On Saturday morning, police spotted the man near Uršna sela. He later barricaded himself in a building. Residents heard gunshots around 18:00. According to reports from Slovenian media, police officers also used tear gas during the operation.
The Novo Mesto Police Directorate confirmed that the man was found dead shortly after 19:00. The circumstances of his death are under investigation — whether it occurred during a confrontation with police or was a suicide.
Slovenian police informed residents that there was no further danger. Croatian police had connected this man to the shooting of a 60-year-old in Valdebeque near Pula on Thursday.
According to reports from the Slovenian portal 24.ur, it was a former member of a special unit who fired at police officers while fleeing.
