Security guard restrains man at Izola hospital, police order compulsory hospitalisation

Regionalobala.si reports that officers from the Koper Police Department intervened in two separate cases of aggressive behaviour in the Koper and Izola area on Sunday.

In the afternoon, General Hospital Izola notified police of a man who had become aggressive towards healthcare staff and shouted at them. A security guard attempted to calm him down before the arrival of police officers, but the man ignored his warnings. When he escalated his aggressive behaviour, the security guard used restraint and immobilisation measures.

Even after police arrived, the man did not cease his improper behaviour and failed to comply with their orders. They issued him a fine, and a doctor ordered compulsory hospitalisation.

Late in the evening, police officers intervened in the Koper area, where a 45-year-old man reported that he had fled home due to violent behaviour by his partner. According to his account, his 43-year-old intoxicated partner had hit and bitten him.

As she continued to commit offences even after police arrived and failed to comply with their orders, she was ordered to be detained and a restraining order was imposed. She was also issued a fine. Police officers are continuing to investigate all the circumstances of the incident.

The weekend was otherwise extremely turbulent for Koper police — a mass brawl also occurred in Portorož.
