Police launch pre-trial proceedings against Pašek Šetinc and Gruma

Police have confirmed the launch of pre-trial proceedings against the former head of the parliamentary investigative commission and former Furs director. The proceedings are being conducted by the Economic Crime Department in Ljubljana.

Pre-trial proceedings following tax adviser's complaint

Police have officially confirmed the launch of pre-trial proceedings against former MP and parliamentary investigative commission chairwoman Mojca Pašek Šetinc and former Furs general director Peter Gruma, according to novice.najdi.si. The proceedings are based on a complaint filed by tax adviser Dr Rok Snežič.

Snežič submitted his complaint to the General Police Directorate on 2 October 2026. In it, he accused them of abuse of official position or official rights under Article 257 of the Criminal Code, exceeding authority, misuse of personal data, negligent work in service, and defamation. Snežič was informed that the pre-trial proceedings are being conducted by the Economic Crime Department at Prešernova Street 18 in Ljubljana.

Commission chairwoman's statement from press conference at centre of complaint

In his complaint, Snežič references a statement made by Pašek Šetinc on 7 November 2023, when, as commission chairwoman, she spoke at a press conference about "the Rok Snežič case and his accomplices, particularly and predominantly Bosnian citizens", in which "a very similar scheme of some financial mechanism emerged, which could quite calmly be called money laundering".

According to Snežič's view, Pašek Šetinc exceeded the commission's authority with that statement. He cites Article 93 of the Constitution and states that he is neither a politician, a party member nor a public official, nor a recipient of budgetary funds, and his business is not a matter of public concern. He characterises the statement about "money laundering" and "accomplices" as defamation.

Role of Peter Gruma

Snežič specifically highlights the role of former Furs general director Peter Gruma, who allegedly passed confidential financial data to the then MP. He characterises this as misuse of personal data.

Not the first complaint of this kind

This is not the first such complaint. Snežič already addressed the same statement by Pašek Šetinc in November 2023, when he filed a complaint with the Specialised State Prosecutor's Office. Later, he filed similar complaints against Robert Golob, Vesna Vuković, Barbara Kolenko Helbl and Alenka Bratušek.

Tamara Vonta from the Freedom Movement has also been charged. She succeeded Pašek Šetinc as commission chairwoman. The charge against her was filed by the Institute for the Protection of Victims of Parliamentary Investigation 2022–26, which was established by a group of witnesses who testified before the commission.
