Police arrested a 25-year-old Austrian citizen with a kilogram of cocaine at the Gruškovje border crossing on Sunday. Electronic devices and 8,100 euros in cash were also seized.

According to svet24.si, police officers apprehended a 25-year-old Austrian citizen at the Gruškovje border crossing on Sunday afternoon during a routine border check with a kilogram of cocaine. The man was travelling from the direction of Croatia.
Officers found a package containing a substance in the vehicle which they suspected to be an illegal drug. They seized it and confirmed the suspicion — it was cocaine.
Investigators from the Criminal Police Sector of the Maribor Police Directorate detained the suspect. On the basis of an order from the District Court in Ptuj, a personal search of the suspect and a search of the vehicle were carried out. In addition to the drugs, several electronic devices and 8,100 euros in cash were seized.
Due to substantiated suspicion of the criminal offence of unauthorised production and trafficking in drugs, the suspect was brought before an investigative judge with a criminal complaint. This criminal offence carries a prison sentence of between one and ten years.
