In the early hours of Sunday, around 2:20 am, a violent assault took place at the water tower in Brežice. According to online portal ePosavje, a 26-year-old man was struck in the head with a punch and sustained minor injuries.
The incident occurred following an event at the sports hall. The victim was heading home past the building where a party was taking place. As he walked, he spoke to two young women. At that point, an unknown younger man approached him and, without warning, punched him in the face. After the punch, the victim fell to the ground, then immediately got up and ran towards home.
Police and emergency responders later arrived at the scene. Medical staff provided first aid, and the victim was transported by ambulance to Brežice General Hospital. Doctors established that he had sustained minor physical injuries and, following treatment, discharged him home.
Police from the Novo Mesto Police Directorate accepted a proposal for prosecution. They are conducting an investigation into an unknown perpetrator on suspicion of inflicting minor bodily injury. Through intensive information gathering, they are attempting to establish the assailant's identity. All findings will be reported to the relevant prosecutors.
