A clash between two women occurred in daylight outside a shop in Šentjernej. During the incident, one of them allegedly stabbed the other with a knife. According to unofficial reports, the alleged attacker was the daughter of a Roma municipal councillor, reports Žurnal24.
The suspect is said to have previously come to the attention of police in connection with burglaries and robberies in the Gorenjska region. Details of the case only came to light after media enquiries.
Residents of the settlement expressed strong disapproval of the conduct of the relevant authorities in an open letter addressed to the media. They believe that citizens should have been informed immediately about security incidents in their town, not only after journalists report on them.
"We residents have the right to know whether we are safe on the streets where we live," they wrote in a letter published on the e-Maribor portal.
