A serious brawl occurred in a car park in Šmarješke Toplice at the end of June involving acquaintances, in which three people were injured. After several weeks of investigation, police arrested two suspects and also found weapons and prohibited substances at their premises.
Police officers were called to the scene at the end of June. There they found three people who were clearly injured – among them an adult man and two minors. The attackers meanwhile left the scene of the incident in a personal vehicle. Paramedics took all three victims to a healthcare facility, where they were provided with care. Initially, it appeared the injuries were minor in nature, but the condition of the 38-year-old man later deteriorated. Doctors established that he had more serious bodily injuries resulting from this altercation.
According to investigators' accounts, it involved a dispute between people who knew each other. Two suspects allegedly attacked three people with two wooden sticks and a gas spray. After the act they fled in a car. Investigators seized the implements with which the attack allegedly took place.
Criminal investigators managed to establish the identities of the suspects. Using a court warrant, they recently entered the flat of both men in the area around Novo Mesto. During the search of the premises they discovered a signal pistol and two small plants suspected to be cannabis. Both men were immediately arrested and detained.
The investigation is still ongoing, with police officers gathering all evidence and establishing the precise course of events. Following completion of the investigation, appropriate legal proceedings will be initiated against the detainees.
