Police have searched the home of a suspect in the Nova Gorica administrative area. During the operation, they discovered a specially prepared space for cannabis cultivation and several firearms with ammunition.

On Tuesday, police from Nova Gorica Police Directorate, assisted by handlers of service dogs from Miren, entered a flat in the area of that administrative unit. The search was carried out on the basis of a court order, as they had reasonable suspicion that the owner of the home was unlawfully trading in firearms or explosive substances.
During the search of the premises, police discovered several items which they assessed as firearms. They also seized ammunition and a substantial quantity of greenish-brown plant matter, which they believe represents prohibited drugs.
Of particular note was the discovery of a carefully prepared space within the dwelling. This had been designed exclusively for the cultivation of prohibited substances, indicating planned and organised activity.
All seized material will be handed over to experts for further examination. Once the results of analyses are known, investigators will submit a criminal complaint to the District State Prosecutor's Office in Nova Gorica. The suspect will be charged with suspected breach of provisions on unauthorised manufacture and sale of firearms or explosives (Article 307 of the Criminal Code) and unauthorised trafficking in prohibited drugs (Article 186 of the same law).
