Electronic messages with claims about alleged explosive devices inside the buildings were received at the e-mail addresses of numerous judicial buildings across the country. Security forces responded quickly to the alarms and carried out detailed searches of the premises.
Police units in Ljubljana, Celje, Maribor, Murska Sobota and Novo Mesto were notified. Officers immediately began gathering information and searching for the source of the electronic messages. In parallel, they introduced all necessary security procedures to protect people, according to a statement from the General Police Directorate (GPU).
In cooperation with relevant institutions, all buildings that received warnings were searched. During the search, no explosive devices or other objects that could pose a risk to visitors and employees were discovered.
Preliminary findings from investigators suggest that the messages could have been automatically generated. Nevertheless, law enforcement is treating the case as a possible offence of general endangerment and is continuing intensive evidence-gathering and verification of all connections. They will endeavour to identify the source of the messages and determine those responsible.
Based on information gathered so far, there is no reason for concern regarding direct danger to the public. Nevertheless, law enforcement treats such threats with utmost seriousness and carries out appropriate procedures to protect life, health and material goods.
