Police in the Novo mesto area arrested 41-year-old Srečko Brajdič on Thursday morning, who escaped from outside the local general hospital at around 9 a.m. According to RTV SLO, information from residents played a crucial role in the search.
Brajdič, who was barefoot at the time of his escape, comes from Dob prison near Mirna. The Administration for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions explained that he escaped from escort following the end of his hospitalisation. During the incident, a court officer sustained minor injuries, who was treated at Novo mesto General Hospital.
Police were informed of the incident immediately and initiated the necessary activities to locate the offender. Following his arrest, he was handed over to court officers for further handling.
The Administration for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions stated that due to protection of personal data, it cannot provide more detailed information about the offender, including reasons for the hospitalisation and details regarding the serving of his sentence.
