Four attackers violently obtained a mobile telephone and cigarettes from a 35-year-old man in Maribor. In addition, police recorded two further suspicious instances of payment with counterfeit banknotes.

An attack on a 35-year-old man occurred in the evening on the car park along Ljubljanska Street in Maribor. Four perpetrators, whose identities remain unknown, used physical force against him, handed over a mobile telephone and cigarettes, and then fled. The material damage suffered by the victim amounts to approximately 2,000 euros.
In a single day, the Maribor police operations communications centre recorded 236 calls, among them 101 emergency calls requiring police intervention. In the same time period, 23 minor traffic collisions and two serious traffic accidents were dealt with.
Among registered offences and criminal acts, foreign objects were stolen five times, bodily injuries were inflicted twice, robbery was committed twice, counterfeit money was discovered twice, foreign property was destroyed, and one audacious theft was recorded.
Police were particularly troubled by discoveries of suspicious money. In a food and beverage establishment, a person paid with a 100-euro note that was allegedly counterfeit. A similar occurrence happened at a petrol station, where a counterfeit 20-euro banknote was in circulation. Due to a larger number of such cases, law enforcement authorities warn all those who accept cash in their work to be especially vigilant when checking payment means.
