Officers from the Office of Inspection Service of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic carried out a large-scale operation at a police building in Košice. During the operation, they detained six men from the local regional traffic inspectorate whilst they were performing their duties.

The information was brought by television station JOJ, which reported on the incident in its news coverage. The inspection service collaborated with a rapid response police unit from Prešov during the operation.

The Office of Inspection Service itself confirmed that the operation took place, but declined to comment on further circumstances. It cited ongoing procedural actions which at this stage do not permit the release of details.

The case was also reported by the portal Korzár, which informed about the operation.

The reason for the detention, as well as specific charges, are not yet known. The police inspection typically investigates suspicions of breaches of the law by police officers, including corruption, abuse of authority and other unlawful conduct.
