Six members of the Regional Traffic Inspectorate in Košice face accusations. According to investigators, they retained cash from fixed-penalty notices during their shifts and failed to record offences in the system.

Košice detectives from the Office of Inspector Service conducted raids on Monday, 15 June at several locations in the city and its immediate vicinity. During the operation, which they named "Collectors", six men serving at the traffic inspectorate were taken into custody by investigators.
According to information from inspection spokesperson Andrea Dobiášová, all detainees were charged with abuse of authority by a public official. The reason was their conduct during working hours, when they issued fines to traffic participants.
Instead of handing over the financial resources to the state, they allegedly kept the money for themselves. At the same time, the offences they dealt with were not recorded in electronic databases. By this method, they obtained personal benefit and circumvented regulations.
Following their detention, further procedural steps were taken. The investigator conducted twelve premises searches, during which mobile devices, fine forms and other important evidence were seized.
All six accused remain at liberty, but face criminal prosecution.
