On Sunday morning, a serious incident occurred on the road in Čierna Lehota, which is located in Rožňava district. A man behind the wheel of a private vehicle lost control of the steering, left the road and drove his car into a garden next to a family home. A woman was present at that moment and was struck by the vehicle. She sustained serious injuries and emergency medical personnel had to transport her by helicopter to a hospital in Košice.
The police force stated on social media that the driver initially left the scene after the accident, but then decided to return. During a subsequent breath test, law enforcement officers detected 0.59 milligrams of alcohol per litre of breath. This corresponds to a value exceeding 1.2 per mille. Police detained the man at the scene and restricted his personal freedom.
Investigators have yet to determine the exact circumstances under which the incident occurred and who bears responsibility. The investigation is continuing.
