A 37-year-old pedagogue was found dead in a family home in eastern Slovakia. Her partner fled the scene, but was caught several hours later.

On Saturday 20 June, rescue workers attended a family home in Gelnica. At the scene they discovered a dead 37-year-old woman who worked as a teacher at the local primary school. According to a report from Forum24, it was a violent death with severe injuries to the neck.
The man with whom the victim lived left the house before police arrived in his own vehicle. Investigators immediately began a search for him. Later that day he was found on a country road near Košice and taken into custody.
According to witnesses, noise and screaming were heard coming from the building before the tragedy. Neighbours recalled that the suspect had conflicts with the law in the past and had recently returned from serving a sentence. He had allegedly previously made threats to his partner.
The popular teacher had been trying to start a new life and gradually distance herself from the violent relationship, according to her family. Despite this, she remained in contact with her partner, which proved fatal for her.
