The deceased worked as a teacher at a primary school in Gelnica. According to her relatives, she was a popular teacher who, despite going through a difficult period, tried to focus primarily on her children.
Police immediately launched a search for the victim's husband after discovering the body, who had allegedly left the house by car. The public was warned about possible contact with a man travelling in a silver Škoda Octavia vehicle. The suspect was detained after several hours in the area around Košice on a country road.
The main suspect is, according to available information, the victim's husband Tomáš. Witnesses reported that there was noise and screaming coming from the house before the tragedy, on the basis of which they called for help. Zuzana was found showing no signs of life with serious injuries to the neck area. The incident is believed to have occurred in the house, which the couple used as a recreational cottage.
According to testimony from neighbours, Tomáš had previously been dealt with by police for threats against his wife and had recently been released after previous legal troubles. The family states that Zuzana was seeking a fresh start and was gradually trying to cut contact with her partner.
