On Saturday, 20 June, a tragic incident with fatal consequences for one woman occurred in Gelnica. Law enforcement subsequently detained her husband, who is suspected of having killed her.
According to information provided by a spokesperson for the Košice police, investigators formally charged the man with committing murder. If the court finds the accused guilty, he could spend 15 to 20 years behind bars.
Before the arrest, criminalists believed the suspect was hiding somewhere in the Prešov region. Police officers from this region in the east of the country were also involved in the operation, which ultimately led to his apprehension.
Investigators continue to examine the case in detail.
