A 47-year-old educator from the Spišský region lost her life on Saturday afternoon. The woman's body was discovered in Gelnica, where she used a family house as a holiday home. According to published reports, she had serious injuries to her neck.
Investigators from the Košice region took over the case and are establishing the circumstances in which the violent act occurred. According to media information, the victim's husband is the suspect in the killing. The man had previously had problems with the law in connection with threatening his partner. Neighbours claim that the woman had recently freed herself from the abusive relationship and moved into her parents' flat with her children.
Zuzana had taught for years at a vocational school in Prakovce, and later worked at a primary school in Gelnica. Colleagues and family describe her as a kind person who devoted her life to raising her own children. A relative of hers stated that her offspring were also present in the building at the critical moment.
Residents of the area called emergency services after hearing a scream coming from the property. However, paramedics were unable to help the woman. Experts from the forensic institute conducted an inspection at the scene.
In the following hours, officers from the District Department in Čane detained a man on a country road near Košice. Police are currently carrying out the necessary procedures with him.
The security authorities have so far released only a limited amount of detail due to the ongoing investigation.
