On Friday afternoon, the body of a woman was found in Gelnica on Spiš. According to television station Joj, she was allegedly killed by her own partner. The tragedy reportedly occurred in a property that the couple used as a recreational residence. The victim worked as a teacher at a primary school.
The perpetrator had previously served time behind bars for serious threats. He was released from prison only recently. After the incident, he got into a grey Škoda Octavia with a Košice registration number GL 055AX and fled.
Security forces launched an extensive operation and warned citizens not to approach the wanted vehicle. The man was apprehended that evening. "A person whom police were searching for today in connection with violent criminal activity in Gelnica was detained by a patrol of the Čaňa Police Station on one of the rural roads in the Košice area a short time ago," the regional police announced. Necessary procedural steps are now underway with the suspect.
