A violent crime has occurred in eastern Slovakia in which a woman has died. The suspect is her partner, who was reportedly convicted in the past.

In the afternoon, a female body was found in the village of Gelnica showing no signs of life. The Regional Police Force in Košice confirmed that they are investigating the case as a violent criminal offence. A man then fled the scene, prompting a manhunt.
According to reports by TV Joj, the victims were a married couple. The woman's life was allegedly ended by her partner, who was reportedly imprisoned in the past for dangerous threats and had only recently been released from serving his sentence. The incident allegedly took place at a recreational facility which the couple used as a cottage. The victim was said to have worked as a pedagogue at a primary school.
Investigators asked citizens for assistance in locating a grey Škoda Octavia with registration plate GL 055AX. They urged people not to approach the vehicle or contact the person in question.
That same evening, the suspect was found. Officers from the municipal police department in Čaňa apprehended him on a field road in the Košice area. "We are currently carrying out the necessary procedural steps with the man. We will provide further information when the procedural situation permits," said representatives of the law. Police thanked the public for all the information that helped locate him.
