Police stopped a 31-year-old driver in Prievidza due to a faulty rear light. During a check, they detected a positive test for methamphetamine and amphetamine, and immediately confiscated his driving licence.

During a routine night-time check in Prievidza, police officers uncovered a more serious problem than a technical fault on a vehicle. Law enforcement officers noticed a Škoda Fabia passenger car with non-functioning rear lights. The vehicle was stopped in accordance with regulations and its 31-year-old driver was examined.
The breathalyser test came back negative. However, the man showed signs suggesting drug use.
"Officers therefore asked him to submit to a rapid drug test. This showed a positive finding for methamphetamine and amphetamine. Their presence was subsequently confirmed at a healthcare facility from a biological sample," said Petra Klenková, spokeswoman for the regional police in Trenčín.
The driver immediately lost his driving licence at the scene and was prohibited from continuing to drive. The relevant authorities are taking further steps to properly clarify the entire matter.
The security forces again reminded the public that driving under the influence of narcotic substances is irresponsible and endangers all road users.
