A tragic incident took place this afternoon in Gelnica district in eastern Slovakia. Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene where they discovered a lifeless body. Košice regional police have classified the case as a violent crime.
Television Joj reported that the victim is a woman who was allegedly killed by her own partner. The deceased reportedly worked as a teacher at a primary school. The incident occurred in a property that served the couple as a recreational residence. According to available reports, the suspect had previously served time for dangerous threats and was released from prison only recently.
After the incident, security forces launched an extensive operation. They searched for the man and a grey Škoda Octavia vehicle with a Košice registration plate GL 055AX. Residents were advised not to approach the car and not to communicate with its driver.
On the same evening, the search ended successfully. "A unit from the district police station in Čany stopped the wanted man on a country road near Košice and restricted his freedom," representatives of the police force announced. They expressed gratitude to citizens for all the tips and the sharing of information that helped apprehend the suspect. They are currently carrying out proceedings in accordance with the criminal code.
