A 24-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after shooting a 51-year-old woman in the back of the head in the early hours of 28 September 2026, mynbc15.com reports.

Officers from the Bay Minette Police Department responded at approximately 2:30 a.m. to a report of an injured woman in the 1100 block of Grove Street. On arrival, they determined that Elijah Walker had approached the victim from behind in her driveway and fired a single shot to the back of her head.

The woman was transported to North Baldwin Infirmary and is listed in stable condition.

According to Bay Minette PD, the attack followed a dispute between Walker and the victim that had continued for most of the preceding day. The two had known each other for many years.

Walker was charged with attempted murder and remanded to the Baldwin County Corrections Center, where he awaits arraignment and bond hearings. The investigation is ongoing.
