Man Arrested After Firing Gun and Threatening Driver at Cape Coral Gas Station

A parking lot dispute at a Cape Coral Circle K escalated when a passenger fired a handgun and threatened to kill another driver. Zachariah Lowman was arrested and charged after being identified by the victim.

Gunman Detained After Parking Lot Confrontation at Circle K on Country Club Boulevard

A parking dispute at a Cape Coral gas station turned violent on 24 September 2026, when a passenger fired a handgun and threatened to kill another driver, capecops.com reports.

Officers with the Cape Coral Police Department responded at approximately 6:16 p.m. to the Circle K at 935 Country Club Boulevard after reports of shots fired in the parking lot.

The victim drove to the police department immediately after the incident. He told officers he had finished filling up and was waiting at the parking lot exit for traffic to clear when a vehicle behind him began honking. He exited his car to explain the situation. The passenger of a red SUV then got out and approached him, produced a handgun, and fired one round into the air while threatening to kill him. The suspect then pushed the victim backward and pointed the weapon at his head. The driver of the SUV also threatened the victim's life before the vehicle fled the scene.

Surveillance footage from the Circle K confirmed the sequence of events. The video shows the victim pulling up to the lot exit, followed by the suspect vehicle. The victim walks toward the SUV, the passenger steps out and appears to point an object at the victim's upper body, and the victim backs away before the red SUV leaves.

Witnesses on the scene independently corroborated the account, telling officers they observed the passenger display a handgun and fire one round into the air before advancing on the victim.

A 9mm spent shell casing was recovered from the Circle K parking lot.

Using the tag number supplied by the victim, officers located the registered address and found the red SUV parked in the driveway. The driver was stepping out of the vehicle as officers arrived. A man matching the suspect's description — later identified as Zachariah Lowman, born 29 October 1986 — was also present. Both men were detained.

A live 9mm round was recovered from the ground near the front passenger-side door of the SUV, and a spent 9mm shell casing was found closer to the road. The victim took part in a show-up identification and positively identified Lowman as the man who had pointed the gun at him.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit assumed control of the investigation. During the execution of a search warrant on the residence and vehicle, they recovered a black 9mm handgun from inside the SUV.

Zachariah Lowman was subsequently arrested and transported to Lee County Jail.
