An 18-year-old man was taken into custody after a dismembered female torso fell out of a plastic tub at an apartment complex in Smyrna, Georgia, according to kfoxtv.com.

The Smyrna Police Department identified the suspect as Kingston Bradley. Officers had initially responded to a missing-person report at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday before making the grim discovery.

A witness told investigators they observed Bradley carrying the container in an open area between 8 p.m. and 8:28 p.m. The witness said Bradley dropped the tub on a dirt path, then fled toward his nearby unit after apparently noticing he had been seen.

Responding officers determined that the remains found on the walkway were the dismembered torso of an unidentified woman. Upon entering Bradley's unit, authorities reportedly found a bloody saw and detected a bleach odour inside, according to reporting by WAGA-TV.

Bradley was arrested and charged in connection with the discovery. The New York Post reported the specific charges filed against him. Separately, WAGA noted that Bradley was already facing charges of battery and terroristic threats in an unrelated case in Cobb County, Georgia.

The identity of the woman whose remains were recovered has not been confirmed. Authorities said the missing-person investigation remains ongoing.
