Two boys shot dead by father in Koreatown after McDonald's visit
A 35-year-old father has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting his two young sons dead on a street in Koreatown, Los Angeles, on Sunday, The Sun reports.
Adolfo Gramajo was booked by the Los Angeles Police Department following the deaths of his sons, Jimmy Gramajo Bonilla, four, and Osmani Gramajo Bonilla, 11. His bail has been set at $4 million.
The shootings took place in broad daylight in the Pico-Union area. Gramajo had been with the boys on a custody visit, taking them to McDonald's beforehand. He had previously told the children's mother they would be staying at his parents' house, according to NBC LA.
After the shooting, Gramajo turned the weapon on himself. Both boys were rushed to hospital but were later pronounced dead. Gramajo remains hospitalised and his condition has not been confirmed.
The LA County Medical Examiner ruled that Jimmy died from a "close-range gunshot of the head." Osmani's cause of death was also recorded as a "gunshot wound of the head."
Family members gathered near the scene to mourn the boys publicly, leaving flowers and mementos at the intersection where the shooting occurred.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the family wrote: "On October 11, 2026, our beloved Jimmy and Osmani left this world, leaving an immense void in our hearts. They were the most adorable and charming boys, always happy, with contagious smiles and innocent, wonderful mischief. They are and will always be the reason for my life."
The family also appealed for financial help to cover funeral and burial costs. "Today we ask from the bottom of our hearts for your collaboration to be able to give them a dignified farewell and cover the funeral and burial expenses. Any donation, no matter how small, will be a great help to our family," they added.
Maria Lopez, an aunt of the two boys, described them to NBC LA as "so sweet, really good kids."
Family friend Carlos Aguilar said he could not understand why the children had been targeted. "They never did anything wrong to anyone. They were always happy, never wanted to hurt anyone. They were innocent," Aguilar said.
No motive for the shooting has been established. The investigation remains ongoing.
