One person found dead at Eugene home, police confirm suspect in custody

Eugene Police are investigating a homicide at a residence in the 5400 block of Fox Hollow Road, registerguard.com reports. A suspect has been taken into custody, and authorities say there is no ongoing threat to the surrounding community.

Department spokesperson Chelsea Deffenbacher confirmed the development and asked residents to avoid the area while the investigation is active. Multiple police vehicles were seen Thursday morning crowding a driveway leading to two homes on the road.

A police officer on scene confirmed that one person was found dead.

Neighbours Larinda and Michael Nelsen, who live in a nearby apartment, noticed the heavy police presence while watching workers cut down large tree branches close to their building. Larinda described the incident as unsettling in an otherwise calm area.

"It's disturbing what's happened here because it's a quiet neighbourhood, it's beautiful here, nobody comes out here usually," she told registerguard.com. "We love living here and plan on staying here for a long time so we're a little shocked at what's happened."

No further details about the suspect or the identity of the victim have been released at this stage.
