A man was stabbed to death in a parking lot in downtown Las Vegas in the early hours of Saturday morning, fox5vegas.com reports. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) communications received a call just before 3 a.m. reporting a stabbing at a business in the 70 block of West Imperial Avenue, near Commerce Street. Responding officers found a man lying in the parking lot with a stab wound.

Medical personnel transported the victim to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Detectives from LVMPD's homicide section established that the victim had been involved in a fight with another man inside the business and was subsequently escorted outside. A second altercation then broke out in the parking lot, during which the victim was stabbed. The suspect left the scene before police could arrive.

The identity of the deceased, along with the official cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner's Office.
