Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced Friday the arrest of Curon Ross, 20, of Raceland, on charges of attempted second degree murder, according to lpso.net. The arrest follows a shooting that took place on October 12 in the 100 block of Brocato Lane in Raceland.

At approximately 1:25 p.m. that day, deputies responded to reports of a shooting. On arrival, they found a white sedan that had been struck by gunfire. The vehicle's owner was identified, and investigators learned her boyfriend had been inside the car at the time of the incident. He sustained gunshot wounds to both arms and was airlifted to hospital.

Through the subsequent investigation, detectives identified Ross as the suspect and obtained both an arrest warrant and a search warrant for his residence. On the morning of Friday, October 30, deputies located Ross at his home and took him into custody.

During a search of the property, deputies recovered an illegally altered firearm. Ross was then transported to the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux for booking. Correctional officers there found suspected marijuana and Suboxone concealed on his person.

Ross faces charges of attempted second degree murder, taking contraband into a penal institution, possession of Suboxone, possession of marijuana, and possession of an illegally transferred weapon. Bail has been set at $1,081,000.

The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges are pending.
