Delaware State Police are investigating a shots-fired incident in Newark after a vehicle was struck by gunfire early Sunday morning. No injuries were reported.

The Delaware State Police is investigating a shots-fired incident in Newark that took place in the early hours of Sunday, 11 October 2026, dsp.delaware.gov reports.

At around 4:30 a.m., troopers on patrol near Stanton Christiana Road and Ogletown Stanton Road heard gunshots. Shortly afterwards, they observed a vehicle pull up at a nearby business and moved to the location. On arrival, troopers found the vehicle had been hit by gunfire. No injuries were reported.

The preliminary investigation indicates that an unknown vehicle had followed the victim's car for several miles before an unknown suspect opened fire, discharging multiple rounds at the vehicle.

The Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit assumed control of the case. Detectives are continuing to investigate and are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or holds relevant information to contact Detective B. Timmons at (302) 365-8434.
