Tucson Resident Arrested Over Email Bomb Threats Targeting White House
A 46-year-old Tucson man has been federally charged after allegedly sending an email threatening mass bombings at the White House and multiple other locations across Washington, D.C., according to abc15.com.
Jacob Hicks was arrested after authorities received a tip on September 23 about a threatening email directed at the White House. The message, sent to Scripps News Tucson, warned that a bomb attack on the White House and surrounding D.C. locations was imminent — with a 12-hour countdown.
Scripps News Tucson forwarded the email to law enforcement. The FBI confirmed to the station that the forwarded message triggered a formal investigation, during which agents identified Hicks as the alleged sender.
Investigators also uncovered additional unsent email drafts linked to the same account attributed to Hicks. The drafts, also dated September 23, were addressed to other news organizations and contained similar threats against the White House.
Hicks has been charged by criminal complaint with Making an Interstate Threat to Injure. The investigation is ongoing.
