A 21-year-old from Charlotte, NC was arrested on two felony weapons charges after State Police found a loaded handgun during a routine traffic stop in Saugerties.

Passenger arrested after illegal weapon found on Route 212
A traffic stop in Saugerties on October 7 ended in the arrest of a North Carolina man on two felony weapons charges, hudsonvalleyone.com reports. State Police pulled over a 2017 Nissan Sentra on Route 212 at around 8:14 p.m. after observing multiple traffic violations.
During the investigation, troopers identified a passenger as Jayvon E. Ward, 21, of Charlotte, North Carolina. Officers found a loaded handgun and a large-capacity ammunition magazine in his possession.
Ward was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class C felony, and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class D felony. He was arraigned and remanded to Ulster County Jail on $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond.
Ward is scheduled to appear in Saugerties Town Court on October 13 at 3 p.m. Saugerties Police assisted State Police in the investigation.
