Two male suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting of 47-year-old Dennis Francis, a Villa resident who was wounded during an early-morning attack on Sunday, antigua.news reports.

Francis, of E.A. Stephen Street, was walking along Gordon Street at approximately 3:40 a.m. when three men in a silver Toyota Vitz approached him. Police preliminary reports state the men were dressed in dark clothing. Francis attempted to flee, but was shot during the pursuit, sustaining gunshot wounds to his lower back and abdomen.

Emergency Medical Services transported him to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, where he remains hospitalised. Police confirmed his condition is stable and his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Within 24 hours of the shooting, investigators apprehended two suspects, who are now in police custody assisting with the investigation. The circumstances surrounding the attack remain under investigation, and police have not indicated a motive.
