10-year-old girl pregnant following abuse – stepfather arrested in Argentina
A 10-year-old girl in Argentina was found to be six months pregnant when she arrived at hospital with abdominal pain. Her 32-year-old stepfather has been arrested and charged with serious sexual abuse of a minor.
10-year-old girl in Argentina found pregnant – stepfather remanded in custody
A 10-year-old girl presented at a local hospital in Colonia Dora in north-western Argentina with severe abdominal pain. Doctors quickly established that the girl was pregnant – and according to a gynaecologist, already six months along. This is reported by B.T. with reference to Argentine media El Liberal and German Bild.
Hospital staff immediately reported the case to police, who arrested the girl's 32-year-old stepfather shortly afterwards. The man had been in a relationship with the girl's 25-year-old mother for approximately one year, whom he had also made pregnant. When he was apprehended in a rural area and charged with serious sexual abuse of a minor, he was in possession of a revolver and a butcher's knife. He has since been remanded in custody.
Prior to the hospital visit, the girl had indicated to her mother that the stepfather had done things to her when the mother was not present. After the abuse was established, the girl explained that it had happened several times over the past few months.
The girl's mother has allegedly been subjected to repeated violence by her live-in partner herself. According to the girl's grandmother, she had met the man online and had been warned repeatedly against leaving him alone with the 10-year-old.
