Morocco-Belgium cocaine trafficking via Sky ECC: Redouan sentenced to 30 months

Third conviction for "Redouan of Charleroi" in Morocco-Belgium drug network

Redouan, already convicted twice in narcotics cases, has been found guilty for a third time by Belgian justice of having organised cocaine and cannabis trafficking via encrypted messaging platform Sky ECC, reports Canal212.

The court handed down a sentence of 30 months' imprisonment on Monday, subject to probationary suspension. For five years, the convicted man must abstain from using narcotics and avoid all contact with people linked to the drug underworld.

The investigation established that Redouan had, for more than a year, used Sky ECC to sell several kilos of cocaine and cannabis, arranging deliveries between Morocco and Belgium. He operated under the pseudonym "Redouan of Charleroi" and used his brother's address in Lambusart as a distribution point for certain deliveries.

According to newspaper La Dernière Heure, this case is part of a broader wave of dismantling of criminal networks using secure communication platforms. Belgian justice thus intends to send a clear signal against the use of these tools in narcotics trafficking.

The case highlights the persistent difficulties faced by judicial and police authorities in combating cross-border organised crime, in which encrypted messaging services are playing an increasingly prominent role.
