Former police officer sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison for harboring hit-and-run killer
Sofia City Court has upheld the sentence of three years and six months for former police officer Simona Radeva, who helped Georgi Semerdjiev evade justice following a serious car crash that killed two people.

Magistrates from the capital's city court confirmed on appeal a punishment of three and a half years' imprisonment for former uniformed officer Simona Radeva. The woman was accused of assisting Georgi Semerdjiev to escape justice following the fatal road incident on 5 July 2022, which claimed the lives of two people. The district court in Sofia initially imposed five years in prison on her, but the appellate court reduced the sentence.
The court panel established that the defendant acted intentionally, aware of the danger posed by her actions. She was cognisant of the consequences that would result from her assistance to the perpetrator.
The verdict is not subject to appeal. The sentence will be served under standard regime in a correctional facility.
According to BTA, the driver Georgi Semerdjiev has already received a 20-year sentence for causing the tragedy.
