A large quantity of counterfeit perfume products was seized by customs authorities at the Lesovo checkpoint, the agency reported. The discovery was made during a routine inspection of a vehicle.

The lorry with foreign registration arrived on 7 June via an incoming route. The driver, a Ukrainian national, presented documentation according to which he was transporting a consolidated shipment from Turkey to Ukraine, in transit through Bulgarian territory.

Following operational analysis, the officers directed their attention to the vehicle for detailed inspection. During the thorough examination, customs inspectors discovered that eight of the listed shipments contained a total of 163 kilograms of fragrant concentrates in plastic and metal containers of various sizes. All bore the names of prestige international brands.

In another fifteen parcels, 27,200 cardboard boxes were found, also bearing logos of well-known brands. The number of empty packages corresponded almost exactly with the quantity of fragrant concentrates, which provides grounds to assume that they were intended for joint use.

The goods found have been confiscated. The holders of the protected trade marks will be informed of the case. The investigation is continuing.

According to customs authorities, this is a record-breaking quantity of perfume concentrates and accompanying packaging seized at this border checkpoint in the past several years.
