Murder charge over death of police officer's wife in Parvomai
The Plovdiv Prosecutor's Office has referred a young man to court for the death of a 45-year-old woman married to a police officer from the city of Parvomai. Dimitrina Grozeva was fatally stabbed in her own home.
The investigation indicates that on 18 August of last year, the 23-year-old Ivelin Tsvetanov arrived in the city by car and broke into the residence. He inflicted nine stab wounds on the victim, from which she died. The bloody discovery was made by her minor son Atanas, who was 18 years old at the time. The murdered woman's husband — Zdravko Grozev — was on duty at the time of the bloody incident.
Tsvetanov, who had previously been in a relationship with the family's daughter, was arrested by law enforcement authorities in the capital shortly after the deed. He remains in pre-trial detention, with his attempts to obtain a lighter measure having been rejected.
