In 1999, a historic silver reliquary was stolen from the Bachkovo Monastery in Bulgaria. Decades later, this valuable object came to light in Estonia. Local authorities have seized the artefact and hope to return it to Bulgaria after expert evaluation.

The reliquary is made of silver, and on its front side is depicted the crucifixion of Christ on the cross. It is part of the treasury of the Bachkovo Monastery, located in the southern part of Bulgaria.

The theft was carried out at the end of the last century, but only now has this missing relic found its way back into the light of day, albeit through Estonia. The competent authorities must carry out expert examination to confirm the authenticity of the object before it is returned to its country of origin.
