Police: Disappearance of Varna children not first incident
Twelve-year-old Katerina and her eleven-year-old brother Kiril have been missing since Sunday. Police report that the children went missing in a similar manner two months ago.
Children missing for second time in Varna, mother waited 36 hours to report
The disappearance of twelve-year-old Katerina Anova Tatova and her eleven-year-old brother Kiril Anov Tatov from Varna is not the first such incident, according to 24 Chasa. Chief Inspector Ivan Dimitrov from "Protection Police" at First District – Varna told BTV that approximately two months ago the children had already been declared missing nationwide, when they were found alive and well the following day.
The mother reported them missing only around 36 hours after they went missing. According to Inspector Dimitrov, the reason was likely her concern about possible subsequent action from the Child Protection department.
The two children have been missing since Sunday afternoon, when they were last spotted in the centre of Varna. Police do not rule out the possibility that they are not moving together.
Katerina has short hair to her shoulders, wearing pink trousers, a denim jacket and white trainers. She may be carrying an orange rucksack. Kiril was wearing an orange outer garment, a white shirt, jeans and white trainers, and a small black bag across his body.
"Our colleagues have been searching all day today at vulnerable locations in the city, the railway station and bus station, shopping centres and the places indicated by the mother as possible locations the children like to visit," said Inspector Dimitrov.
The district prosecutor's office in Varna has opened pre-trial proceedings in the case. Police are appealing to citizens with information about the location of the children to call 112 or visit the nearest police station.
