Sofia resident detained for offering bribe to police near Ugarčhin
Shortly before midnight on 13 June, a team from the Ugarčhin police station stopped a light motor vehicle for inspection in the area of the village of Orlyane. The driver was a 26-year-old man living in the capital.
The inspection revealed that his driving licence had been revoked this year due to drug use. When the officers began to draw up an act for a traffic law violation, the man approached the patrol car and left 130 euros in the armrest on the passenger side.
The uniformed officers refused to take the sum and administratively detained the driver. Colleagues from the district police station and the transport and road safety division at the Lovech regional directorate arrived at the scene.
After a 24-hour period in custody at Ugarčhin police station, criminal proceedings were initiated against the young man.
