Police operation frees kidnapped Peruvian woman in fourth ring condominium

A Peruvian citizen was rescued on Monday during an operation by the Special Force to Combat Crime (Felcc) at a condominium located on the fourth ring and Roca y Coronado avenue in Santa Cruz de la Sierra. According to El Deber, police apprehended three people linked to the alleged kidnapping: a Ukrainian citizen, a Russian and a Bolivian of Russian descent.

The departmental police commander for Santa Cruz, Edson Fernández, explained that the intervention was activated after receiving information about an alleged kidnapping inside the property. "Information was received about an alleged kidnapping and at that moment a condominium was entered to rescue the victim and apprehend three people," Fernández stated.

The victim had arrived in Bolivia approximately two days before the operation, according to preliminary information from police. Fernández clarified that both the woman and the three detainees knew each other and would have residence in Lima, Peru. "We are investigating the motive, since these people had arrived in Peru, they are people who know each other, they all live in Lima," the commander added.

The three apprehended individuals were transferred to Interpol facilities to verify their identities and determine whether they have criminal records or pending international warrants. Police are also investigating the circumstances in which the group entered Bolivia and the nature of their relationship with the victim.

The rescued woman is in safe custody whilst investigations continue. If the authorities establish a criminal record or sufficient evidence against the detainees, they will be presented before a judge, who will determine their legal status.
