Santiago City loses its ANFP affiliation following forged documents scandal

The First Chamber of the Disciplinary Court of the Professional National Football Association (ANFP) disaffiliated Santiago City on Tuesday, according to puranoticia.pnt.cl. The resolution was adopted by unanimous vote.

The court upheld the complaint filed by the ANFP board, which accused the club of violating article 10, subsection G, of the regulations by submitting forged documentation corresponding to the severance settlement of footballer Fabián Núñez.

The notary office that appeared in the document delivered to the organisation at Quilín denied having issued any signature in favour of the Second Professional Division club, which constituted the serious falsification that led to the sanction.

The ANFP indicated that "the reasoned sentence will be notified shortly, at which time the period established in article 51° of the Code of Procedure and Penalties will begin to take effect".

The disaffiliation strikes Santiago City at a critical moment in the season: the club occupied third place in the final phase for the title and promotion, with 15 points, surpassed only by Deportes Linares—with 16—and Trasandino—also with 15, but with a better goal difference.
