Murder of CMC nurse in Klein Zuurzak: police release footage of fleeing vehicle

Investigation seeks witnesses following death of nurse Rachied Paulina

The Curaçao police have released video footage of a vehicle that left the grounds of an apartment complex in Klein Zuurzak shortly after the murder of Rachied Paulina. Anyone who recognises the vehicle or has other information can report it anonymously via number 108.

Paulina, thirty years old and employed as a nurse in the Emergency Department of the Curaçao Medical Center, was found dead in the early morning of Monday 21 September in an apartment on Kaya di Montaña. Among colleagues he was known as Chito. Police previously reported that he had a fatal laceration to his neck.

Curacao.nu reported earlier that staff at the complex went to check on the apartment after receiving no response from inside it. A woman reportedly came outside, got into a car and drove away—in doing so, she struck the barrier at the exit. That car was later found damaged in Montaña Abou.

The new appeal for witnesses does not make clear whether police have since established who was driving the vehicle. The force also does not indicate whether the person described as a woman in earlier reports is formally being considered as a suspect. So far, police have not announced that anyone has been arrested in connection with Paulina's death.

The Curaçao Medical Center remembered him as a dedicated and quiet colleague, known for his caring approach to patients.

Witnesses can report anonymously via 108.
