Nu.cw reports that police carried out large-scale checks at multiple locations on Curaçao on Saturday evening. The Action Team was active from Saturday afternoon into the early hours of Sunday.
A large number of officers checked motorists and pedestrians for violations of the weapons act, the narcotics act, the traffic act and the law on admission and deportation.
Later in the evening, attention shifted to places where large numbers of people gather and where illegal activities are known to occur, including so-called "fevers". The police were visibly present at these locations with flashing lights.
Police announce that checks will continue over the coming period and be further intensified towards the end of the year.
