Shooting in Ormidhia at house of life-sentence inmate's father

Unknown assailants opened fire in the early morning against the residence of a 76-year-old in Ormidhia, according to information from Dialogos. The target is the father of a 48-year-old man serving a life sentence following conviction for the quadruple murder in Ayia Napa in June 2016, with the principal victim being businessman Fanos Kalopsidioti.

The police were notified of the shooting during the night without further details becoming known about victims or damage.

It is the second attack against a member of the same family within a period of two and a half months. On 21 August, an attempted murder was carried out against the younger son of the 76-year-old — brother of the life-sentence inmate — outside his house in Ayia Napa.

The sequence of the two incidents strengthens suspicions that the attacks are connected with activities of the life-sentence inmate within the Central Prisons. This scenario had already been examined during the investigation into the attempted murder of the 33-year-old brother in August, leading even to searches inside the Central Prisons.
