Shootings in Ormidhia at home of life-sentence prisoner's parents

Unknown gunmen fired at a residence in Ormidhia where the parents of a 48-year-old convict serving a life sentence in Central Prison live, according to reports from Politis.

The 48-year-old was convicted of the quadruple murder committed in Ayia Napa in June 2016, in which Fanos Kalopsidiothis lost his life.

Police believe the attack represents the second "message" to the imprisoned man within a period of three months. The first was an attempted murder against his brother, and now the home of his 76-year-old father has become a target.

According to Politis, the authorities believe the perpetrators are seeking to exert pressure on the life-sentence prisoner in relation to his conduct within Central Prison.

Investigations are ongoing. Police are attempting to identify those responsible and to uncover the full network behind the two attacks.
