A court in Plzeň has sentenced a sixteen-year-old boy to three years in prison for the rape of his twelve-year-old sister. The girl became pregnant, nobody noticed, and in summer 2025 she gave birth.

A court in the western Bohemian city of Plzeň handed down a ruling on Friday in a case that has shaken Czech society. A sixteen-year-old boy was found guilty of raping his sister, who was four years younger, and sentenced to three years in prison. The offence occurred at the end of 2024 in their shared bedroom in a family house in Karlovy Vary.
According to information published by German tabloid Bild, the girl did not realise for a long time that she was pregnant. Her parents also noticed nothing. The pregnancy came to light only when the twelve-year-old was taken to hospital due to severe pain. Shortly afterwards, she gave birth to a child. Only after the birth did she accuse her brother of rape. Paternity tests confirmed his guilt.
The investigation revealed that the fifteen-year-old – then still a minor – had been sexually abusing his sister for a longer period in a family setting. According to the state prosecutor, the rape itself occurred in autumn 2024.
The girl remained silent throughout and continued to attend school. Nobody in her surroundings noticed anything suspicious. Changes to her figure were visible on school photographs, but everyone attributed them to simple weight gain. Summer 2025 brought the birth of the child and the subsequent revelation of the entire incident.
Local authorities told the media that the children came from a good social background. "For the family it was a genuine tragedy. They were struggling with it very hard. Of course it immediately became the main topic in the town," said a representative of the authorities.
The accused was removed from the family home and placed in foster care. In addition to the three-year sentence, the court imposed a conditional suspension of execution and ordered him to participate in therapy for sexual offenders. He was further ordered to pay compensation to the victim.
